The Pearl Cannon
The Pearl Cannon is an accurate one-third (1/3) scale replica of an eighteenth century
British cannon.
BACKGROUND
As full size cannons the British fired these against the newly independent United States
during the American Revolutionary War. The Pearl Cannon is modeled after the 12
pounder as cast by the Verbruggen Family in 1780 at the Royal Brass Foundry, Woolrich,
England. They were used as field and naval pieces. The full size example weighed 2,352
pounds and was 6 feet 6 inches in length.
FEATURES
Cast solid in high strength silicon bronze, the casting metal is very dense. Superior
results when compared to coring the bore.
The trunnion bases are cast as part of the barrel. This design allows for strong mounting
onto your carriage.
BUILDER NOTES
The muzzle and the breech have substantial sprues. They allow for easier chucking
during your machining.
The casting is supplied shot blasted.
Gates and risers are cut leaving 1/2” of material for your removal.
